Hi there. So far, I've noticed that the "contacts.gif" logtype logo is missing. Otherwise, so far so good.
Is this included in the release? can't watch the video until later
Alpha 2 is now available. Things fixed: about 45.
Most notable:
add task list has send notification
add task list handles dates properly now
add task list fields are now properly aligned
tickets: open/close processing
task list download has milestone now and due date in info column
alpha has been replaced with alpha 2. use same link above to get it.
Any upgrade scripts?

Copy over /application, /plugins, /environment, /language and /public/assets and u should be fine.
just to be sure /plugins is under /application anyway....

Did you get this to work? I'm having exactly the same problems, but right after the installation it worked just fine.
I liked very much all the new features.
Still just testing 8.8. - I finally did a reinstall as I wanted to be sure, not to have any old code in it. Right now with new install everything looks fine
It was stable for me too until I added a link.
However, this worked for me:

I cannot image adding a department and adding users to it is enough. How do you see it work in total?
i don't know if it is a bug but when creating a ticket one can not immediately specify a milestone to be associated with
to do this one needs to edit the ticket after it is created
i think it is a good idea to add a milestone box in the "Add ticket" view, e.g. below the "Description" input box
also i noticed distinct categories are implemented for different projects as well as editable set of default categories

What kinds of problems / risks could we have if we decide to migrate from PP 0.8.6 stable to PP 0.8.8 alpha 2.
At the moment, we are a very small team.
I am testing 0.8.8 beta 2. Right now there are no upgrade patches from 0.8.6. yet (database is different), I am using 8.7.beta which was very stable for the last month (with the help of the developers). I guess when there are upgrade patches available I will change to 0.8.8. and until then use it as a test plattform and report what goes wrong.
You do not run the risk of losing data or so. Usually when something goes wrong it is a coding error that can be fixed easily. Monitor cache/log.php and let me know about the issues you see there.
I will push out 0.8.8-beta coming week. That should be a good base for you.

I would like to work on the french translation.
I have opened the file named all.php from the version 0.8.8 alpha 2.
Does it contain everything for the beta version ?
Can I send you only this file when completed ?
I also would like our Vietnamese NGO starting on the Vietnamese translation, but we would need to know which text file should be the base and if it would be a good idea to use something like poedit within Projectpier language developement (see http://www.projectpier.org/node/2747).
Whenever there is some capacity I also would like to start on a small project within the NGO to help with issues on PP and of course also feedback to the community, but I would need some "start" advise from the developer for that, to setup this project involving the translation and some colaboration in the developement process whenever time allows.
To start translating take the en_us files from the 0.8.8. You will find these files in /language and /application/plugins//language. The en_us files have the most complete set of entries to translate.
Which tool you use is up to you. I do not know poedit but if it helps you fine. The end result should be a text file that has all the items to be translated. PP cannot use po files directly.
In the end, the translation editor will be part of the administration menu. That way users can directly change the text to their liking.

it would be great to have a short update on where we are with 8.8.0 - as already mentioned the Download link is not working and I am not sure if my 8.8. test installation is really up to date (there are several patches and updates in the forum, which seem not to be downloadable at one common place). If you could give the community a short info on the state of this version it would be very helpful and for those of us using previous versions it would be important if there is some work going on to have upgrade skripts.

Consider adding the functionality of synchronizing milestones and tasks due dates. It's really time consuming changing milestone due date, then each task due date and finally task list due date.

2. Text reports, export a project to a RTF file, to use for example as a basis for a status report. Would of course be nice to be able to choose what you want in the report; milestones, tasks, etc or just dump everything to a file and then delete what you don't want.
3. Printable version (print the content of the page) for example task list, skip all buttons, menus, header, footer etc.
Otherwise I'm happy for now :)
I'd find these things useful:
1. Being able to associate a contact with a project.
2. Being able to add notes to a contact.

Execute the script. When an error occurs because a field already exists, remove all the lines in the script including the line that generated the error and restart the remainder of the script. Repeat until done. That should do the trick.
GitHub is pretty stable. Just download from there. I will commit a change for chinese characters in an hour or so.
Just starting a new "test round" on 8.8., but not sure where to get the latest version right now as well. To clarify:
1) Update script 8.6. (in my case to update 8.7.beta database) from Github
2) most current version of 8.8. alpha from the download site or Github -> not sure on that,

i need the most carefree way to do this. i could create a backup environment to test with if i have to as i am currently using this for many clients.

and the upgrade button in my 0.8.6 version doesnt do anything. it errors out saying a request was made in a way that could never be completed.....
Upgrade button was discussed in several threats - don´t use it, it is not working. I am going to upgrade my 8.7. the next days to 8.8. - I will do it step by step and try to give you a feedback on how it worked (if I am successfull).

I've actually started with 0.8.0.3, upgraded first to 0.8.6, and only then (manually) to 0.8.8. So you can skip the first bits.
Be careful, do not simply copy and paste everything! Some lines on the SQL commands are optional depending on what you had installed, some require changing things like name and password, and all require adding the table prefix.
Caveat utilitor.
the thing i cant figure out. is i dont see a direct link to download any update script. all the links take me to a page with changes shown to some php files and the sql queries....

In particular, it can also make debugging for all themes ( css ), probably mistakenly imported from version 0.8.x ( redbase,azul,etc.)?
