I just wanted to update to the newest Version and Then I saw the change log.
It has only 2 issues.
http://www.projectpier.org/node/1094
- Fixed (Node 721) - Correct variable misspelling
- Fixed (Node 588) - Fixed DB scheme for storing timezone
So is that correct that there is nothing more done in nearly a Year except those 2 fixes?
thanks,
Hermann
Officially, yes - because nothing ever gets committed
Unofficially, no - there have been loads of patches submitted
OK so what does that mean?
Will the next Major release get a whole lot of new features?
When will those "loads of patches" be included?

Seems that PP founder has lost the interest and there is no big supporting community too.. And probably there are some communication problems unsolved between founder and community?
that would be sooo sad.
it does not mean, that we should to be sad..
maybe its just step to go trough, to get new horizons available for PP...
If to use PP as non extending capable product, just to use it as it is, then it cool app, and there is no need for big changes i think..
But another hand in small group of developer has raised architecture issue ..
And its clear that if we want to have in PP option for easy extending, especially with easy to use installable packages system, then its core architecture should be rewritten..
I'm personally supporting to stop active develop PP on current architecture based, just do some bug fixes and small improvements and to start modeling a new architecture, and this should be very accurately done.. Because mistakes here can not be fixed bay later programming..
So what are we to do? I finally found something that's easy to use (we currently use Officezilla) and looks great. It doesn't have 100's of bells and whistles that we won't use and I can host it so my boss won't worry about who can "see our stuff".
I like too :)
The architecture issue is important when you need extend PP functionality easily. If you don't need any additional functionality then its really good!
But my experience shows that there is always on changing world need for new functionality. But I using too PP (GoalPanel SF Edition) and I'm very happy with it as it is, just missing some features..
