It would be great if when uploading a quicktime (.mov for example) or a flash file (.swf) that the media could be displayed in the page, along with the download link, so that things can be viewed directly in the page without having to download them.

It would be great to have a little ajax-ified side menu slide out and a nice
big "view" button..
I know a million independent designers who would love this feature..
(Including myself..)

I guess the better solution is youtube or google video linking capability. Uploading videos into your own server is time, bandwith and disk space taking.

This is a feature I'm looking for. Is there any news on this topic? I need to be able to display a video in my messages to clients for review.
This is one thing I cannot currently do in basecamp & why I'm looking for alternatives.
I guess I could give it a try to embed the OSM Media player.

Who wants to work with me on this? I would do the programming but I need others for design ideas, testing and constructive criticism.
Oops. Found video js and implemented it. First results:

I´m interested by this feature!
Can you provide a patch/tuto in order to use the video js?
I'd like also to have a preview of the first page of an uploaded pdf file... any idea?
Thanks
I thought I made a description somewhere on how to do that. I can't find it. I will make a patch describing on how to implement it.
I made a new topic on the PDF preview feature:
