I am just wondering if there was any way/setting that might speed up my installation of PP?

Is it a dedicated server or shared hosting? If you have a dedicated server then you probably need to optimize your MySQL settings. There are many articles on the web about MySQL optimization, just google it. If you are on shared hosting, switch to a better hosting provider.
