Enhance tasks
I would like to see the 'Tasks' enhanced to allow better scheduling and traceability.
Ideally I would have:
- Projected start dates.
- Projected completion dates.
- Dependencies with other tasks/mile stones.
- Linking back to any eventual issue tracking system.
Ok, this lot may look a little MS Project(ish). But, in my defence, when managing projects I find that I need to spend a lot of time ensuring that I have enough work for my time to keep them going from month to month. As they are largely contractors, the ability to actively plan their time allows to plan cash flow and recruitment. So, the ability to see how much work they have and how long it will take is a real bonus.
It will also indicate how achievable the Milestones really are.
Actually, thinking about it - as a project manager, the ability to see a projected timeline for each of my time would be useful.
Sorry - this has gone a bit train of thought.
I may have to look at implementing these anyway...if I make them work I'll look at sending the changes.

That's funny, I was looking for project software and found this site today. The whole system seems perfect for our intranet, and I am playing. I am desperate for some visual tracking of a project, such as a Gantt chart/planner. This would make the whole thing perfect for our use. Please Please Please!!
A good, clean charting would be extremely nice.

Would be awesome to be able to export visualization to PDF, and be able to piece together charts, or print out a big chart on a plotter.
Visualization is massively important, I think, for large complex projects

Actually, I wonder if it might be possible to use the XML output by Project Pier to create visualizations with other existing XML visualization resources.
This could also give possible network views (such as who actually worked with who to get what done, etc)

I would love having the ability to place a deadline on tasks (like there is on milestones). I don't mind if it's a projected completion date or actual deadline, as long as it's letting me track tasks by dates.
You can create multiple milestones , and attach them to tasks as you create them. The current PP software will then alert you which milestones, and associated tasks are not yet complete
