Description
Hey I've been using project pier for a little while now and something has been niggling at the back of my mind now.
Why isn't there the functionality to add user to sub groups or departments.
Companies will all have departments and as manager of even a small business I've come to a point where I'd like to assign a task to a whole department instead of just a single person. I'm aware that I could theoretically use the client company system to do this but I would rather save that function for the different external help I work with.
Please let me know if this is possible.
It is currently not possible. My experience (CRM background) tells me that people want to assign tasks to provider groups. Provider groups are groups of people with certain skills and these people could be coming from different departments and/or companies. Departments are bound to one company so I would agree to subgroups as per your request. And a user could be part of many provider groups. To give an impression on how My Tasks would look for a user in 2 subgroups:
Personal tasks
task 19 in project A
task 21 in project B
task 22 in project A
Payments tasks
task 29 in project C
task 88 in project D
Purchasing tasks
task 33 in project F
task 55 in project G
