Ability to add users to departments

Hey I've been using project pier for a little while now and something has been niggling at the back of my mind now.
Why isn't there the functionality to add user to sub groups or departments?
Companies will all have departments and as manager of even a small business I've come to a point where I'd like to assign a task to a whole department instead of just a single person. I'm aware that I could theoretically use the client company system to do this but I would rather save that function for the different external help I work with.

Please let me know if this is possible.

I love this idea. I just started using PP as a collaboration environment for my production company. It would be great to group people into groups by 'show' so I don't need to hunt around to find the right people to add to a project. I think it would also be useful to allow people to belong to more than one 'department'.

It would be really usefull if you include such a feature.
Adding users to groups and assigning tasks to groups like proposed in the issue form sounds great.
So does the idea of adding users to more than one group.

... if it had this functionality. I love PP, but I'm contemplating using something else until this is added.
