Upload Progress Bar/Applet

Hello,
We are using project pier to exchange large non e-mailable files with our clients in a secure manner. One issue we are having with the larger files, files somewhere in the 20MB to 100MB range is that the http upload process gives no indication of the upload progress. For users unfamiliar with the web, or the operation of the website, they may think that it has either crashed or stopped responding and may try to reload the page. It would therefore be helpful to have a progress bar, or some uploading applet so that our users could see the upload progress and would then have some confirmation of the files integrity after upload. Otherwise some of them feel it is getting lost in the ether.
The upcoming new release of mootools have implemented this solution with a tiny swf.

I think this is important as well. Does anyone have something they have done to integrate this? Even if it's not a feature, maybe it can be done as an addon?

in this feature as well, some of my project files are rather large and it would be good to know if they stalled or not. Already had a lot of issues with the filestore option, even after having permissions set properly. Moved to the database solution (recommended) and it seems to be working, but without a progress i sit here wondering if i am wasting my time.
