Member Permissions
I've been having errors today with Member Permissions where I have a new member of my company who I've added and now want to give access to all projects in PP. I select the member and then Permission and start selecting each project and then ALL for each project. I hit update permissions and they don't seem to take. Each time maybe one or two take the rest done. If I do let's say 2 - 4 at a time they update fine but mass update doesn't seem to work.
Also it would be GREAT if there was a way to just add someone to all projects with set permissions for new members of a company. Maybe I should post that in the feature suggestion area but it's quite a hassle when you have say 30 projects and you have to checkmark the project then checkmark all for each one (and then when it doesn't work that's even worse -- gotta start all over).
Not complaining, it's a great product --- just needs a little tweak in this area :)

I'm trying to get a new team member added to all the projects and I can't seem to get them added to certain projects.
No matter what I try.
Thanks,
Nathan
Sorry Nathan,
There isn't much help I can give you. Right not there isn't really a way to do a batch add like you mentioned. We will have to verify the apparent error with marking lots of projects at once not working, if it can be replicated on a fresh installation then a bug report should be logged in the issue queue and we'll figure out a solution. I'm guessing it might be a matter of there being a timeout setting, or memory limit setting or something where not all of the data is getting to the server during the save - but that would most likely be a configuration issue with your webserver and not the software.
Your only other alternative would be to do a batch add manually via the database, but you'll need to be familiar with writing SQL to do that.
Hi Ryan,
I'm still having an issue with updating certain project 1 by 1 as well. It seems to only be with the 3rd member of my company. I'm going to try deleting the user and setting them up again to see if that solves the problem.
I can update the projects with clients' members but our company members is where the issue is.
I have another PP install on my server for another company so I'll maybe try the same issue in that if i have trouble.
I would love to see the "add to all projects" option for members of my company be available but clicking them all individually isn't so bad as long as it's working.
Let me know if I can provide any details on what the issue I'm having would be.
Nathan
I forgot to say thanks for replying :)

Hi Nathan,
I agree that it would make sense to have a checkbox to select all projects. It shouldn't be too much to add and would be useful for long lists of projects...
As for your case, I don't really know what's going on.
As Ryan said, if you can isolate a specific sequence of steps that creates that, it would help finding out.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for contributing your thoughts too -- do you have a suggestion of how I could provide more info.
Currently I have 48 active projects in my PP --- the basic step is that I've added a new member to my company and now I want to add them to all the projects. My first attempt was to go down the list and select the project and then "all" for permission for each. Then I would select Update Permissions at the bottom of the page.
It would add the correct permissions to a number of the accounts in this case it did seem to go alphabetically. Then the next 30 or so it wouldn't change.
And any attempt to change them one by one afterwards and been unsuccessful. Although any new projects the permissions for the same user are created fine through the "Auto Assign" feature.
Does this make sense? Could you give me instructions on how to produce a log for you that might help explain what's happening?
I've increased the timeout to 60 second from 30 seconds --- didn't seem to solve the problem. I'm open for more suggestions to try.
Thanks,
Nathan
Well... funny enough my wife found a solution that works in the meantime, in the People section of each project adding our new team member there works with no problems. It's a long work around for adding someone to all the projects but at least it works for now.
In the "members" and then choosing permissions for the user, this doesn't work now for 1 or for 10 projects doesn't matter either way.
But in People it works so THANK GOD, and my wife :)
If anyone has other ideas on why it might not be working please let me know
Nathan
