Message/Notification Formatting
I'm really starting to use PP this week so I apologize for flooding the forums, but I'm looking forward to utilizing it more.
As I write messages one thing I'm finding is that the default values make for a pretty crowded looking message. I solve that by using, "<br>" and "<strong>" tags when I edit, but those all show up in the notifications as well (which I suspect might be as far as some of my users get.)
So, I think I'm going to write out long messages straight by typing in numbered items, etc. - post the message so everyone receives their notifications with limited formatting - then, go back and edit the message with <ol>, <ul>, <br> tags and the like to doll it up. It seems a little convoluted, I know, but it's all I can think of doing.
Is there a better way to do this? Has there been any thought of providing some basic formatting options in the message composition? Is there any ability to define the
tag, for instance, as 2 lines instead of one, which alone would make a huge difference?
Just wondering.
Thanks,
Tate.

I guess I got a little too specific in describing the tags I'd use. Sorry about that. I'll try to stop it now.
Hey Tate,
the first this i would point out is the use of <code> tags on the forum posts to properly display them. I edited your post to fix that this time, but keep it in mind next time. You can also see the input formats options under the post for more options.
Regarding the formatting options in PP - i would point out the avaiability of textile formatting options, which provide proper formatting when translated to a webpage, and are still readable to humans in raw format.
By that I think Ryan is refering to:
*this* being bold
-this- being strike through
etc.
I came across it by accident.
I know your pain though, I've been having to jump through the same hoops to make message 'look' right.
Sorry again for using tags in the original post.
I saw some references to textile formatting, but wasn't sure what that was exactly. Now I realize that it is exactly what I am looking for.
I'll start using it in my original messages to get the formatting right.
Thank you very much for pointing this out to me.
Tate.
