Insert a working web link in a task list description/task text

I would like to insert a working web link in a task list description or in a task text.
I can't understand how to do it. I tried using a complete html code but it seems not to work.
Do web page addresses and e-mail addresses turn into links automatically as in this web form where I'm typing this forum topic?

Hi pitagora,
ProjectPier is using Textile for formating.
However, at the moment, the tasks are not formated at all unfortunately. So, at the moment, there is no good way to add URLs to tasks...-
